Description / Intended Use

The MAXX BMC Blood and Bone Marrow Aspiration System is designed to be used for the safe and rapid preparation of autologous platelet rich plasma (PRP) from a small sample of a mixture of peripheral blood and bone marrow aspirate at the patient’s point of care for mixing with autograft and/or allograft bone to improve handling characteristics.

The system includes a single-use disposable kit consisting of a concentration device, syringes, blunt needle, alcohol wipes, and ACD-A anticoagulant.

Clinically Relevant Features

Controlled Separation Technology

The MAXX BMC® system incorporates a lead screw–based mechanism that enables controlled and precise positioning during processing. This design assists in isolating the buffy coat layer following centrifugation, which contains a concentration of platelets and other cellular components.

Multi–Cycle Processing

The system offers one- or two-spin processing cycles to support separation and concentration of cellular components. These options provide flexibility in preparation based on procedural preferences. Final product characteristics may vary depending on processing conditions and patient factors.
Spin 1 – 4 minutes
Spin 2 – 5 minutes

Closed System Design

The system is designed as a closed processing system to support aseptic techniques. It enables multiple processing cycles within a single device; it reduces the need for transfers between containers and may help limit opportunities for contamination.

Customizable Product Composition

The processing design allows for adjustment of separation parameters, supporting preparation of products with varying relative concentrations of platelets, buffy coat components, and red blood cells. This enables clinicians to tailor the composition based on procedural needs.

Output Volumes

The MAXX BMC® system is designed for point-of-care processing of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
The device allows the user to concentrate up to 60 cc in one centrifugation cycle with a typical output volume of approximately 7-10mL.
